ppn2ocr expects the PPN to be in the PPNxxxxxxx format, i.e. including
the leading 'PPN' string. Validate the argument accordingly.

oai.sbb.berlin does not have a valid certificate:

curl failed to verify the legitimacy of the server and therefore could not
establish a secure connection to it. To learn more about this situation and
how to fix it, please visit the web page mentioned above.
Work around this by setting verify=False.
